A Sing-along of German Folk Songs. Learn to Dance the Slow Waltz!
Bring your Valentine to this very special event. That indescribable feeling of Gemütlichkeit – that comes with good music, delicious food, and great company – is an experience you’ll always remember.
In between sets of four or five sing-along songs, the Männerchor will be charming people with the unique sound of a men’s chorus singing in multi-voice harmony.
German folk songs have such a rich cultural heritage and are so full of all kinds of emotions, from the joy of Nature to the pain of the homesick sailor, the exuberance of the star-crossed wanderer, the innocence of first love, the enjoyment of friends and drinking, and so much more. What a great way to pass on this precious cultural heritage to the coming generations, by bringing family members to this unique event!
We are privileged to have Peter Kadel, a Sr. Fellow of the Imperial Society of Ballroom Dancing, donating his time to provide a free hour-long dance lesson before the singing starts to anyone who wishes to learn the Waltz. What a unique opportunity to learn this delightful and graceful dance from a real master! After the singing, music will be provided for plenty of time to put your newly learned skill into practice.
Jacqueline Smith directs this unique combination of sing-along, choral performance, instrumental and vocal interludes, and folk music.
$12 per person; $10 if you are a member of the VE Club or another German Club.
